So that you can show up as your lovingly kind self, and of course, a positive manifester.
Lately, I found myself crying at night because I feel quite powerless with all the things that are happening in my home Hong Kong, and of course, the world, which is now filled with so much negative energy — fear, grief, frustration, and even hatred.
This is why I have created this post to help you protect yourself from all these negative energies with five simple tips.
Disclaimer: It is not about being oblivious and ignoring the suffering of others, but about not letting these negative energies take over you so that you can continue to show up as your lovingly kind self, and of course, a positive manifester.
1. Learn the Difference Between Your Own Energy and Others
I am quite sure these are the day a lot of us experience powerlessness or even grief when we watch the news.
Understand that while it is a very human thing to be empathic about others’ suffering, there is no need to take on others’ energy and claim it as yours.
Take a moment to remind yourself that you carried good energy into the world, you still have it in you and that’s how you contribute to humankind.
On this, I want to talk about the Maharishi Effect, which was about how a large group of meditators practising Transcendental Meditation (TM) was associated with a significant decrease in U.S. homicide and urban violent crime rates during 2007–2010.
Given that, what you want to do is to leave the negative energy where you found it.
Experience it, and then say the mantra “Let It Go”.
There is no need to carry that around with you because the world doesn’t need any more negative energies.
Of course, I am not asking you to pretend nothing has happened and act as if you live in Lalaland. I am asking you to use these times to send out more loving and good vibes to others, which is what we need the most now.
2. Use Affirmations
Another way to protect your energy is by using positive affirmations.
In case you do not know, affirmations are positive statements you say to yourself repeatedly to foster a positive attitude.
They work by reprogramming your thinking patterns so that, over time, you begin to think — and act — in a way that enhances the quality of your life.
You can use affirmations such as “I choose to protect my energy from negative influences,” or “I will only accept energy that is good for my well-being” to start safeguarding your energy.
Another great affirmation would be, “I am in charge of my energy and how I feel.”
Of course, there are many more affirmations you can use here.
Even so, you want to ensure that you say your affirmations with conviction to show that you believe them.
Not to forget, the Law of Attraction only works if you can energetically carry what you want to attract in life.
3. Do a Cleanse
Unfortunately, you inevitably cross paths with news and, people, of all kinds daily.
Some of these news and people you interact, or even have intimate connections with, may carry dark or negative energy that can weigh you down and as a result, you won’t be in the best frame to manifest your goals.
That’s why it is crucial that you do a cleanse regularly.
What do I mean by cleansing?
There are many ways you can cleanse your energy body.
You can, for instance, do a bath, detoxify through clean eating and drinking water, meditate in solitude, declutter your space, and so on.
One cleansing ritual that is super easy and simple to do is when you are in the shower — Imagine the water washing away all your worries, sadness and negativity, imagine them going down the drain.
As you are doing that, repeat this mantra: “I let go of all the energies that do not serve me”.
4. Identify Your Spiritual Authority
What do you identify as your authority in life? Authority, in this case, means what guides you or dictates your path.
For example, if you’re a Christian, you may identify your authority as the Bible or Jesus Christ. The same goes for other spiritual identifiers.
When it comes to authority, you must separate what is purely for entertainment or out of curiosity and what you should actually follow.
For example, I have noticed many teenagers today worshipping celebrities and it appears to be dangerous to them (in my opinion).
Remember, not every belief system or practise is beneficial for you or your spiritual self. Some are detrimental to your energy, especially those that are not centred around love and kindness.
So, take a step back and really analyze the ‘why’ before you start practising something spiritual.
5. Learn When to Be Still
My last tip on protecting your energy is learning when to shut everything off and be still, aka, being Stoic.
It is important to know when you need to step back from all of it — even if it is a very human thing to do to be empathetic of others’ suffering or to experience negative emotions in general.
It takes time to practicing letting go, so if during this time you are too overwhelmed by negative energies, maybe you should just take a break from consuming those content or interacting with those people, which/who can be detrimental to your emotional well-being and affect how you show up in the world.
If we want to bring light to the world, or simply manifest real change in our lives, we must protect our energy.
Remember, positive energy attracts positive experiences.
